INFO

After successfully leveraging the Microfluidic Modulation Spectroscopy (MMS) technology for a few years, Redshift was looking to create a new generation of laboratory instruments that were able to push the envelope on what was possible with MMS. Designing a system with a smaller sample volume and easier throughput with a fully integrated computing platform at its core would make this technology useful in academia and pharma labs alike, helping scientists discover new applications for the

technology.

We began this project with a user-centric approach and strong focus on the scientist. After understanding the user journey and several technology pivots, we aligned on the different access points required for the device. After integrating these solutions, we began with the form development and noted the need for ventilation for passive cooling. We leveraged the venting pattern as a design element that relates back to the laser technology. We collaborated with the UI/UX team and introduced an LED along the edge as an extra indicator light.
